Adam's Peak

Adam's Peak is located in Sri Lanka's hill country. Adam's Peak is an amazing 7,360 foot or 2,243 meters peak which has been a place of religious pilgrimage for more than a thousand years in Sri Lanka.

From the top of Sri Lankan 's Adam's Peak, you can see the breath taking view of the hill country. Many pilgrims climb this high rising Adam's Peak in the early hours of the morning to watch the sun rising from its summit.



Anuradhapura

 

If you like ruined cities, you will enjoy visiting Anuradhapura, an ancient city in Sri Lanka. The city of Anuradhapura became Sri Lanka's capital in 380 B.C. It remained the capital city of Sri Lanka until the 10th century A.D when it was overthrown by the Cholas. Among the most famous attractions in Anuradhapura city are stupas, museums and the sacred bo tree which is the oldest living tree in the world.

Horton Plains

The next of the best vacation spots in Sri Lanka is the Horton Plains. The grasslands of the Horton Plains in Sri Lanka are favorite spots for hikers. There are evergreen forests scattered all over Horton Plains complementing the two famous scenic mountain peaks called the Kirigalpotta and the Totapola. Horton Plains is also home to the natural wonder called the World's End where the plains plummet downward for 2,297 feet or 700 meters.

Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara

Another must see in Sri Lanka is in Colombo. It is the temple Kelaniya Raja Naha Vihara which is an important temple and place of worship for Buddhists. Buddhists believe that Gautama Guddha once preached at the site. The temple is also well known for its image of a reclining Buddha.
